Frederick K. Read retired from the U.S. Army in 1998 and returned to Northern Kentucky. His final military assignment was with the Chief of Staff at the U.S. Army's Training & Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, VA. From September 1998 to August 2005, he was employed by Easter Seals Southwestern Ohio, serving as director of human resources and culminating as vice president of operations.
While in the army, Dr. Read earned a Master of Science in business administration from Lindenwood University, St. Charles, MO., and an Ed. D. (adult & continuing education) from Virginia Tech. He began his teaching career in 1997 at St. Leo University's satellite at Fort Eustis, VA. In September 1998, he accepted an adjunct faculty position at National College of Business and Technology and remained on the institution's faculty until March 2006. In December 1998, he was appointed to an adjunct faculty position with Union Institute & University and remained in that capacity until accepting a part-time faculty/academic advisor position with UI&U in February 2006.
Dr. Read is a member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association and a lifetime member of the Northern Kentucky Officials Association, of which he is twice past president. He devotes his spare time to training and evaluating high school football officials.
