Union Institute & University is authorized by the following state education agencies to offer degree programs:

California
California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education
Union Institute & University is considered, by reason of its regional accreditation, to be exempt from the need for authorization to operate in California.

Florida
Florida Commission for Independent Education
Authorized by reason of accreditation to offer B.A., B.S., M.Ed., Ed.S., and Ph.D. programs.

Kentucky
Many Union Institute & University programs are approved by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. Please be advised that Union Institute & University’s Master of Education (M.Ed.) program is not accredited  in Kentucky by the Education Professional Standards Board, and is not recognized for initial, additional, or renewal of certification, or for salary enhancement (rank change) for K-12 teachers in Kentucky. Ohio
Ohio Board of Regents
Currently authorized to offer B.A., B.S., Ph.D., Psy.D., and Ed.D. programs.

Vermont
Vermont State Board of Education
Authorized to offer all degree programs through December 31, 2013.

Wyoming
Wyoming Department of Education
Registered with the Wyoming Department of Education as an accredited private postsecondary education institution.
