Psychology & Human Development

Psychology and Human Development ConcentrationPsychology covers a broad area, from counseling to community work, from addition studies to     health and wellness more generally ,from  human resources to organizational leadership--the possibilities are almost endless. Looking to find your place in it all? Or perhaps you want to study human development to better understand yourself and others. Concentrating in  psychology  allows you to explore the dynamics of human behavior and apply your knowledge to a career.

At Union Institute & University, you can pursue psychology studies through brief residencies in Vermont, either 5 weekends per  term (New England students)  or one week at the beginning of a term, or totally online.   Designed for adults, our program allows you to study psychology at a time and in a way that makes sense for adults.  You focus on the aspect of psychology that most interests you.

The study of psychology provides a strong foundation for career advancement because it promotes the problem-solving, writing, thinking and speaking skills that are highly  attractive  to  employers. An undergraduate degree in psychology will  make you more marketable in the work place and will also prepare you for  graduate level degrees such as: business, law, education, licensed counseling  and clinical psychology.

This concentration is also appropriate for those who want to learn about the brain, brain development, mind-body issues, and topics such as cross-cultural differences, eco-psychology, and Buddhist psychology. As a UI&U learner you can pursue interdisciplinary study projects in psychology and human development such as religion and psychology, psychohistory, art and psychology, and organizational psychology.
