Holistic Studies, Spirituality & World Religions

Religious StudiesCore Framework
The study of religion is by its very nature interdisciplinary and therefore fits perfectly into the context of a Liberal Studies major. In order to include the widest possible interest in this area, we combine religion with spirituality and holistic studies, even though you may have a special interest that might fit in any one of these three dimensions. Thus, we invite you to follow an interest in Judaism, Christianity, or Islam; world religions generally; western, eastern, or indigenous mythologies both ancient and modern. Or you may be interested in pursuing spirituality via study of the various mystical traditions, both east and west. You may be interested in undergraduate preparation for the Christian ministry or for other lay or professional service within a specific faith community. You are most welcome to do so within this concentration.

By including holistic studies we encourage those of you who have achieved professional or lay training and certification as a holistic health practitioner to take advantage of this opportunity to study your own field in the context of a broader undergraduate concentration within the Liberal Studies major. You will find an amenable intellectual home in the Religion, Spirituality, & Holistic Studies concentration. Finally, we invite students to concentrate in this area, who feel a deep need for more information, knowledge, and wisdom in order to sustain a life search for meaning.
