All learners within the Health and Wellness concentration begin with a foundational course in Health and Wellness and then have the opportunity to focus their work on a field which meets their professional and personal goals. Fields chosen by recent graduates and current learners include:
Talk to one of our admissions counselors about your particular field of interest.
Our learners come from various backgrounds–health care, complementary health or may be new to the field. Learners might use their study as preparation for doctoral study. Other learners might use the degree to assist in receiving some type of external certification, such as Lactation Consulting.
Lactation Consulting
Learners who choose the Lactation Consulting field of study work with faculty of the Healthy Children Project. While some learners come to this degree with a health care background, an undergraduate degree in lactation, nursing, nutrition etc is not required for admission to the Health and Wellness concentration, with Lactation Consulting as the field of study. Learners may be internationally board certified lactation consultants or they may choose to use the degree (with additional topic areas included) to help acquire the requirements needed in order to sit for the international exam. Learners who focus on Lactation Consulting may use this degree as a pathway to acquire the requirements needed in order to sit for the international exam through the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE). Additional topics and internship hours are added to the program for learners choosing this route.
