Susan Seigel, Ed.D. has served as Director of the Campus-wide Community Service Learning Program at Salem State College. She has taught in teacher education programs at University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Salem State College, and Merrimack College.
With her extensive experience as a grant writer, researcher, and curriculum developer. Dr. Seigel has presented her work nationally through the American Education Research Association (AERA) and National Service-Learning conferences sponsored by the National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC).
Her publications include “Teachers of Service-Learning” in R.C. Wade (Ed.), Community Service-Learning: A Guide to Including Service in the Public School Curriculum. (State University of New York Press 1997). Community Service Learning as a Methodology to Strengthen Multicultural Teacher Education (1995), and Co-authored with V. Rockwood, Democratic Education, Student Empowerment, and Community Service: Theory and Practice” (Equity & Excellence in Education. 26(2), 65 – 70, (1993).
