Concentration Overview
The Global Studies, History & Culture concentration within UI&U's Bachelor of Arts degree explores the world that surrounds us through an academically stimulating online or weekend residency program. Everything from how the economy really works to gender inequality, Western and Eastern religions to the breakup of the Soviet Union can be developed into an individualized study plan.
You may be interested in events which personally affected your life, such as the Iraq War, organized crime, or the immigrants’ arrival on Ellis Island, as well as wanting to know what you can do to shape the future. This concentration will enable you to identify, sort, and search for resources to help solve problems that are important on global, local, and personal levels.
Similar to a traditional history degree, students choosing this concentration will study individuals and groups in their social, cultural, religious, geographical, and historical contexts, listening for who they are, what they know, and what they care about. In addition to study within the areas of global studies, history & culture, this concentration within the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies includes women’s studies, comparative religion, anthropology, sociology, political science, cultural studies, global concerns, and economics.
