Assistant Director of Communications
Union Institute & University, a private, not-for-profit university offering Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees to adult students, is seeking an Assistant Director of Communications at its national headquarters in Cincinnati, OH. This position will report directly to the AVP Communications and will assist in the management of the daily operations of the UI&U Communications department as well as assist in the implementation of a strategic, multi-faceted communications program, and provide quality control for communications programs, media activities, and special events.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)

  • Manage the university’s online magazine, including oversight of content, staff writers, deadlines, production, and dissemination.
  • Manage and provide direction for the university’s social media strategies.
  • Process and track inquiry data.
  • Assist the AVP in the writing, editing and production of university printed publications including the UI&U annual President’s Report, university commencement booklets and scripts, and other outreach materials.
  • Coordinate development and fundraising publications with Development and Alumni Affairs office.
  • Serve as a “message manager” for the university’s website and other communications.
  • Work with web content manager and public relations manager to ensure accuracy and currency of the university website, social networking efforts and multi media projects, including Flash and video.
  • Assist with the preparation of remarks, speeches, and various other communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, English or related field.
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications.
  • Excellent organization skills with demonstrated ability to effectively manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously on deadline.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with preferred expertise in university communications; attention to detail with ability to edit and proofread.
  • Ability to produce professional documents, electronic and website contented and images/video material.
  • Experience in the use of new media, including Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, web browsers, desktop design programs, etc.
  • Highly developed analytic and critical thinking skills.
  • Familiarity with AP style guide.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals both internally and externally.
  • Superior interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships.

Preferred qualifications include: Master degrees in related field; web/graphic design experience, including Dreamweaver and Photoshop; experience in higher education.

Dean, Sacramento Academic Center
Union Institute & University, a national university for adult students offering programs of study leading to Bachelor’s, Master's and Doctoral degrees, is seeking a Dean of the Sacramento Academic Center based in Sacramento, California.

Responsibilities

  • Will report to the Provost.
  • Will collaborate with other graduate and undergraduate deans, student academic support service directors and the University librarian on the Provost’s direct staff and will provide institutional academic leadership.
  • This position will work closely with the VP of Enrollment Management to assure enrollment goal planning and achievement.
  • As Dean of the Sacramento Academic Center, this position will lead the University’s presence in the greater Sacramento and northern California area and will guide the academic, admissions and support programs delivered at the Sacramento center.
  • Other responsibilities include budget and fiscal oversight; faculty and staff managerial duties; and overall leadership of the center.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate will have an earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
  • 5-7 years successful experience in higher education leadership roles as a dean or associate dean.
  • Prior experience in enrollment management.
  • Ability to travel to Cincinnati headquarters and other academic centers.
  • Proficient in computer use and knowledgeable of distributed learning delivery models.
  • Experience with budget management.
  • Excellent communication and team building skills.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with a diverse community.
  • Experience with distance learning and multi-location experience preferred.

Executive Administrative Assistant President's Office
Union Institute & University, a national university for adult students offering programs of study leading to Bachelor’s, Master's and Doctoral degrees, is seeking an experienced Executive Administrative Assistant for the Office of the President based at its national headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. This high profile position will perform day-to-day administrative tasks in support of the President of the University as well as the Associate Vice President of Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide discrete and confidential administrative support to the President.
  • He or she will handle a wide range of matters of institutional importance.
  • Will be responsible for the overall executive time management of the President.
  • The incumbent will interact with all faculty, trustees, administrators, students, and other visitors to the Office of the President.
  • Will manage the President's calendar, correspondence, calls, and travel.
  • As a member of the President’s team, the incumbent will assist with and participate in, all university functions.
  • In addition, this position will support the AVP of Communications with administrative support and on special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Five to seven years' executive level administrative experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Professional, personable and courteous customer service orientation.
  • Excellence in editing written materials.
  • Be able to set a climate of decorum and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work efficiently in a highly pressured environment.
