Google Scholar is a free database that finds scholarly information on the Web, but many research articles are not freely available.
To take advantage of the full text resources the library subscribes to, you can search Google Scholar@Gary which is accessible from the Journals & Databases menu on the Gary Library home page.
How many results did you find?
You probably found over 20,000 results which is less than your previous Google Search because you are now searching only pages that Google has deemed scholarly.
Scan through the search results.
You will notice that your results look different than the ones found searching just Google. Now you are seeing mostly journal article references. Clicking on the title will take you to the article on the Web but not necessarily the full text.
Look for a special link called "Full-Text @UI&U" which will display next to the title. This link indicates that we most likely have the full text in one of our databases.
Sometimes you will be passed directly to the full text and other times you will get an intermediary page where you must then click on the "Journal" link.
If for some reason a link does not work, try looking at different versions of the reference by clicking on the version link (i.e. "all 3 versions"). You can then use a different access point to retrieve the article.
There is also a "Cited by" link that you can click on to see what articles have cited the one you are examining.
