Narrowing a Topic

You could narrow the topic of identity even more by adding one or more sub-topics.

an age group identity in adolescents
a time frame identity in the 21st century
an additional topic identity and stereotypes or religion
a population identity in women

It is helpful to write out your topic as a sentence or a question. This will help you determine what information will be useful and give you a better sense of when you have found enough information. Open ended questions invite you to add your research to the existing scholarship.

Let's say the question that most interests you is:

How have stereotypes affected the identity of Native Americans?
