Self-Study Steering Committee (SSSC) Rules and Responsibilities

  1. Be familiar with all requirements and expectations of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC)*
  2. Be familiar with the five criteria and 21 components
  3. Adhere to the outcome and process goals of the self-study
  4. Coordinate activities and oversee all phases of the self-study
  5. Participate in drafting, reviewing, and submitting the self-study plan
  6. Review examples of assigned criterion from other self-study reports (SS coordinator will provide 3 examples)
  7. Chair or co-chair a subcommittee
  8. Conduct criterion subcommittee meetings and provide support including resource material, help with institutional research, and guidance on selecting & presenting data
  9. Maintain ongoing contact with the Director of Institutional Research
  10. Provide materials for a resource room of data and documents
  11. Provide the writer with material for criterion chapters
  12. Review and comment on self-study report draft
  13. Assist in the coordination of the evaluation team visit
