Tom Frederick was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1952. He is a graduate of Chaminade High School in Hollywood, Florida. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English education from Biscayne College (1974), a Master of Science in educational administration and supervision from Barry College (1976), and Ed.S. and Ed.D degrees in educational administration and supervision from Florida Atlantic University (1980 & 1982). He has worked for the school board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, for the past 23 years as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal.
Dr. Frederick has made numerous presentations at national conferences on the topics of using technology to enhance instruction, using data to drive instruction, and family literacy. He has presented at the SITE Conference-Nashville (2002), SITE Conference-Albuquerque (2003), National Writing Project-Naples (2003), Ed Media-Honolulu (2003), National Youth Service Learning-Orlando (2004), FETC-Orlando (2005), Brainchild Corporation National Sales Meeting (2005), and Family Empowerment Conference-Miami (2006). He was the 2005 “Assistant Principal of the Year” for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the fourth largest school system in the nation. He was also named as a “Heavy Hitter in Education” by the South Florida Business Journal in March of 2005.
